Main Floor Flow

It all started with two parents wanting to prep for dinner while their daughter did her homework at an island or peninsula connected to their kitchen.  But, the existing kitchen had a 1/2 bath within it and three other doors to adjacent spaces, creating a chopped up space with little light, a thoroughfare of activity, no possibility of an island or peninsula and no work triangle.  Changing the existing dining room to the kitchen to create a support corridor for a mudroom, full bath and access to the front and back yards allowed the kitchen to be connected to an existing living room and a former family room that became the dining room.  Now their view from their kitchen is to their yard, rather than the neighbors driveway and they have the support space for an active, athletic family.
